On wednesday June 8, Africanhiphop.com in association with Prins Claus foundation & Amsterdams Fonds voor de Kunsten presents the African Hip Hop Jam at the Melkweg in Amsterdam. The evening is built around special performances by Waraba (Mauretanië) and Master Nomila (Senegal), hip hop artists who have previously received support from the Prince Claus fund and who are currently touring Holland with Mundial. They have also recorded a track with Thoro Borough Symphony (TBS), a collective of young hip hop artists overseen by our own African hip hop radio dj Threesixty (Bamba Nazar). TBS, Waraba and Master Nomila will perform the track live on stage.

The evening starts with a screening of our classic short documentary ‘Hali Halisi: rap as an alternative medium in Tanzania‘ (2000) which presents a rare peek into the Tanzania hip hop scene at the height of its conscious era. The show is hosted by emcee Vieira & Mahutin and dj Dr Ray (Ghana/NL) opens and closes the night.

Make sure you come on time; doors open at 20 hrs, the show starts at 20.30 and ends at exactly 23 hrs!
Entrance €5 only.
