I am deeply hurt to see violence touch hip hop artist outside of the United States. But we as a people can give this man his dream of creating an african explosion of hip hop. if anyone is planning a tribute song to his honor, i would be more than happy to provide the music free of charge. Dont let Mr. Spiritual lite expire!!!!!!

I am truly sorry to hear.... in this time we need more concious people whom have the balls to speak their minds about change through righteous, intellectual and challenging means... to change this pathetic culture of mass branless consumerism and to bring change. I am sure he will be sorely missed by all close to him. It really sucks man, and I just hope someone else steps in to spread the word to the youth in the Cape Flats and to help sort this shit out, because that's where it's at --- grassroots intervention. The governemnt and police ain't going to do s**t.

Man, reading this news brought tears to my eyes ya know ? I lived in SA from 96-2000 and met Devious a few times, he came and chilled with us at our crib in Yeoville, and just generally linked on road or spitting at clubs. This brere could spit man, he was nice, Krook'd used to go on about this joint he'd scripted in Afrikaans and how ill it was. Devious man, I salute you. How is it the good ones can go and the bad ones can stay ? I lost my father, also a great man, two weeks ago now. May you meet each other up there and carry on the traditions of teaching, knowledge and breaking and blurring international boundaries. Let everyone take whatever positives there may be from this to strive to make their lives and others, better. Devious was a teacher and the world needs more people like him in it - he was too strong a man for his passing to have a negative impact on life. For real, I salute you blood, ONE LOVE. RIP.

All hiphoppers and tru expressionist alike have lost a hiphop puirst. I only heard a few of Mr. Devious' tracks but the emotion he poured out was unparalled, he made you know that his words were sincere and heart felt. Never met the guy but his message did not end at the music, he took it to the people and to the streets. "Why is it the good ones have to die"? I'm sure south african heads are grieving, buyt don't stop there follow with what he started.

All of you should have seen the faces of the youth in prison when Devious performed. The hope and faith that things could and would get better...
He can't finish his fight...I hope we will.

In Europe, we were looking forward to the day when we could catch Mr Devious. Alas, this is not to be. Another great performer is now working the Night Shift. A great loss and a shame.

Fallen Star

They could never understand
what u set out 2 do
instead they chose 2
ridicule u
when u got weak
they loved the sight
of your dimming
and flickering starlight
How could they understand what was so intricate
2 be loved by so many, so intimate
they wanted 2 c your lifeless corpse
this way u could not alter the course
of ignorance that they have set
2 make my people forget
what they have done for much 2 long
2 just forget and carry on
I had loved u forever because of who u r
and now I mourn our fallen star

It is a great loss for the world that he passed away, but most of all for his family.
As a father I can feel this loss.

We have the flag and it will not touch the ground. I can't wait for the Cape Flats Uprising to echo through the streets and into parliament and I know you will be with us. That uncompromising voice of truth that cut into the bone of the oppressors. You spoke from your heart and gave with your soul. I will miss you my brother and will keep you in my heart on the battlefield. Your family is my family.
We will always love you our undefeatable King.

IT IS SUCH A SHAME 2 SEE ANOTHER YOUNG PERSON
HAVE HIS BLOOD SPILLED AT THE HANDS OF HIS BROTHERS.

At least now he is at peace and no longer goes through this struggle called "life"
may his soul live obn forever.

My reguards go out to his family. I pray that God look after them and guides them through life without any troubles.
Rest in peace, young brother!

I remember the first time i heard Devious, it was upon beats from a swedish guy Ken. When i found out that it was a southafrican rapper named devious i was joyed, that hiphop was truly a force of music, political statement and entertainment. My respect towards his family and friends. God bless him.
