Underground Souls in their own words Before the group started everyone was solo. The personal profile of the group members is as follows: Imam Abbas Started with a Crew called "Rama Clan" with rigbt hand man called 'Stizzo Chris' with 3 other members of Ramaclan. The crew is no longer in existence. Only 2 Cats are remaining in the crew.
'Imam' Abbas at the Zanzibar Festival of the Dhow, 2000 (pic: J4) Steve the Bishop (Steve B) and BARAKA the I3th Khalifa Started a crew known as the "Untouchable" crew. Members were Steve, Baraka and Fat Black. Only Steve and Baraka were the last ones left before it broke up but other members are still representing, all Love. The Foundation Souls Artists 1. STIZZO CHRIS 2. DAVID 3. SALU T Soul Brothers These are the important people in our Crew contact at Salamander corner and at home they give us moral support and advice: 1. BROTHER ABDUL "CALLY OR FREDRO" BAHARI 2. ANDREW "CHA DOGY" 3. ABBAS'S BROTHERS - YUSUPH CHANDE AND ABBU MAKHANDI 4. STEVE'S BROTHER - AMANI MDOE 5. BARAKA'S BROTHER - ALLY KONGWE How the Group was Formed The group was first known as "High Class" when it was Started in '96'. The meeting place was Tambaza when Chris introduced me (Abbas) to Steve because at that time Steve happened to be looking for other Mc'z to flip rhymes with... went over to Tambaza, he flipped some verses for me and I was down with him. "Word iz Born we made it happen". Steve was together with Baraka at that time, whom I had earlier met at a Beach Party were we were Freestyling together. The 3 of us then got together to form a group which is now known as "High Class - Underground Soul". Main aim: To Educate our people and follow the Principles of True Hip - Hop. Doctrine in our Rhymes In our Rhymes we are telling people to "Come Clean" in the Hip - Hop scene clearing the way and taking out all the Whack Mc'z. We are starting a Revolution which is "Religious". Influence "Self influence", hard work, motivation plus support from the Soul Brothers keep us going the distance. Reception from Public Good response from people "we are making music for our people and we don't expect everybody to love our songs. That's why it can be 50/50 at times some love it, some don't but it's all good cause we are doing what we are doing: Representing. Set backs I was on a Solo project (Abbas) before my Beat was "Hijacked" from the Studio and used by another Group. My solo debut Track titled "Keep this in Mind" I still have this in mind because I'm still not happy about my beat being taken without my consent before I even released it, to make matters even worse the same group took another beat from my Crew the second time around. This is really sad for a group that is trying to climb up the ladder of the Hip - Hop chart and people are already trying to stop us even before we climb the first step. But like my man Fredro a.k.a. Carl Lewis say's. 'it's all good life goes on' don't let 1 or 2 setbacks stop you from doing what you love, just keep on, everybody has his day. Despite the set back and me squashing my solo project I got together with my Crew and we recorded our First single titled "Battle Field" Big Up! - to producer P. Funk for showing us Love and enabling us to Record our first Track free of charge at his Studio. "Battle Field" - Brief break down I On the Hip Hop battle field - "We battle Mentally" and are totally against people that don't speak reality and belief in themselves - we want people to come clean. Underground Souls, we Express what we feel we want Suckas and whack crews to step into the battle field - if we aren't feeling you we tell you Straight up! The Future Plan to Release an Album by the End of the year "Untitled yet" if everything goes according to our plans laid down. We would love to perform within and outside our borders to promote our Crew but the problem as you know is financial support. |
