High Voltage 'High voltage' is a two-member group from Arusha, consisting of Q Nut P and Eddy P. The name of the crew stands for the charged messages they express such as the fight against HIV: 'High V against HIV'. The crew started with 2 members in 1995, at the time they got invited to perform in Arusha's nightclubs Mawingu Club and Crystall Club, Metropole Dancing Hall (a former cinema) and some picnic parties at Lake Duluti showers. They have already entered into some hiphop contests and won many different prizes. Their rhymes are mostly in Swahili (their mother tongue), and they have some others in English and French in hwich they are fluent. Their first album is being prepared and will be titled 'Ulimwengu wa High V' (Universal of High V). They have one song called 'Pass the mic around' which was recorded with five crews in Arusha; the song featured Hardcore Unit, Achongpong Clan, X Plastaz and Stopper Rhymes. The second and third verse of this song (length nearly 15 minutes!) has High V's artists Q Nut P and Eddy P. High V's philosophy is 'to develop in hiphop and provide lots of fun to the society and progress them emotionally, socially and physically based on their ownability and build up confidence with self-esteem'. At thsi time, the major problem facing High V crew is lack of promotion to make progress in the world of hiphop. |
