Channel O visiting Ghana
Mbuso-T (in the picture with dj Rab) hosts a show called Nasty. He shows all the latest joints from the USA and some rap videos from Africa. Channel O is a popular tv station, originating in South Africa (M-Net) and now available in 44 African countries as part of a sattelite tv offering. For some time, we though the 'O' in the name stood for the amount of local South African rap and African hiphop played, but it seems that the guys have started to discover what's going on around the continent when it comes to hiphop. They do play Rockstone, Spex, Mizchif, Bissa Na Bisso and some Senegalese rap artists. Many African rap video productions are not yet up to international broadcast standards, and therefor are not included in the programming. The famous Channel 'O' crew of Mbuso T, Miss Candy and Mimi K visited Accra for 4 days in early July 2000. They were also accompanied by Phiona from www.hiphop.co.za. Rab 'The International' showed them all the happening joints in Accra. They also visited Lagos in early October this year. © 2000 Africanhiphop.com |
