Strictly hiphop: Feedin' Botswana Hip Hop headz By Mubarak Simba
Face it: What other blessin' should Botswana hip-hop headz ask froms Almighty? Hell no, they are already blessed with Draztik and Slim (from right to left on the picture), the two founders and presenters of a highly ranked hip-hop show in Botswana. "STRICTLY HIP HOP" as the show is affectionately known to hip-hop heads in Botswana, is aired every Wednesday from 6:30 p.m. till 8pm on the National Radio Station RBII. The show with its aims in feedin' hungry hip-hop headz in Botswana with informative if not educative stories on hip-hop world-wide, was launched this year 2000. If I was bold enough to do it, "Strictly hip hop" would be contender for a top 10 hip hop shows world-wide, considering the fact that within 3 months on its existence in the planet earth it gained an amazing popularity and make if not other Radio stations or other Radio shows in the country to watch their back. That’s not all, somebody can ask a hell lots of questions, how could a show with no publicity budget have gained such popularity within a short period of time? The answer is very simple, the show has come in a right time at the right generation. Draztik and Slim are members of the Hip-Hop group Cashless Society CREW, with its other two members based in Johannesburg - South Africa. In addition to the "Strictly hip hop" episode, Draztik and Slim are co-founders of Unreleased Records, hip hop label with its head quarters in Johannesburg -South Africa. These business minded hip-hop heads are doin' for themselves, ya' heard me? As soon as stepped in "Strictly hip-hop" show at the RBII Studios in G-city to conduct my interview, I found a number of MCEES doin' some freestylin' live on air. Man! To be damn honesty with everybody includin' Almighty "ALLAH" I haven't seen some hungry headz before spittin' and fightin' with microphone like on Wednesday evening. What impressed me most, was when my papparazi takin' some clips, one mean MCEE doin' some freestylin' on our camera flash, imagine that! Man! If there is any playa-hater connectin' with bootleggin' the show, ya' all better think twice, coz its off the chain, ya' all heard me? Lastly before I get ma' flick off, let me give ma infinity respect to all ya' strictly hip hop staff for letin' me in studio and see with ma' own two eyes what's goin' on, ya' know I mean, keep it doin' it. On behalf of me and ma' crew we got say we got ya' all back. And I can't let ma' self off without givin' much respect to ma' underground brother PETER MATHAMBO all I got to say to you brother thanx for everything and do whatcha got do and never let them nigaz stresin' you. STAY TUNED !!! Till next EPISODE (c) 2000. Written by Mubarak Simba for Africanhiphop.com |
