Dead Prez in Botswana: Am an African in Africa By Mubarak Simba
Saturday, 1st of October, 2G was and always will be in every head’s medullar Oblongata up in Botswana. After two successful shows in Johannesburg and Cape Town in South Africa, Stic Man and M1 blessed Botswana soil. To be honest the show was off the chain, despite tha’ fact that a number of headz been wandering outside the venue complaining about the high fee charged at the door. “ They are our heroes, role model but brother man how could u expect a broke-ass like me paying almost $15 getting in to support revolution of minds?” tough-one local Mc complained. Never mind, as we all know that every good thing should have some critics, or others see it in different angles. The show blew up immediately local outfit, namely P-Side blessed the stage with their blazin’ track “TIMBER” that made every head bouncin’ and askin’ for more, but couldn’t due to the fact that MC Mbuso from Channel O properly managed time. Second group was Nativity, also a local group with its second appearance also did well, on my own point of view guys ya’ all good but try more than that. Third Supporting act was Cashless Society, bangin’ up the stage and make every head sing along their popular track Blaze tha’ breaks. Now time arrived for South Africa based artist known as MIZCHIEF who is currently working on his full EP and apparently will be featuring DP (Stic Man and M1). The Brother was tight and no question ya’ all better stay turned and expect tight lyrics from this brother man no doubt aaight! The moment that every head been waiting for. The duo of Stic Man and M1, were offering another brand of consciousness in crowded venue in Gabs-City. This creative duo were more than rappin’ that night, were teachin’ and prepare Botswana headz and Africa in general for a revolution of minds to come. Man! Burning “Babylon” flag was some of the things that made a whole audience screamin’ and praise almighty DP. Unfortunately, I couldn’t get an interview due to the reasons beyond my expectations. To all ya’ behind the scene ya’ know who you are much love from www.africanhiphop.com/botswana for keepin’ real, ya’ know what I am sayin’. And last I wanna say thanx to every body who came through and much love to strictly hip hop crew, CASHLESS SOCIETY, P-SIDE, NATIVITY, MIZCHIEF, DJ BIONIC, DP and every body was there keep tight and don’t forget where u from.
