Sugu aka Mr II aka 2Proud - album launch 'Veto'

On Christmas eve 2009, the Diamond Jubilee hall in Upanga, Dar es Salaam (Tanzania) made history for being the venue were Sugu’s tenth album ‘Veto’ was launched. A single and video were released just before the launch: the track ‘Hold on’, produced and filmed in the USA where Sugu resides these days.

The milestone in the career of Tanzania’s most prolific hip hop artist was celebrated with over twenty invited performers who opened up for Sugu, including Saigon, Master T (Taji Liundi), Manzese Crew, Isanga Family, Fid Q, Chidi Benz, Joh Makini, Stara Thomas, dj Choka, Soggy Doggy, Professor Jay, Mangwair and others. Attendance was not bad but the huge Diamond Jubilee venue may have been one size too large for the couple of hundred spectators, many of whom spent most of the night on plastic chairs. Africanhiphop.com was there to pay tribute to one of the icons of Tanzanian hip hop and we got some pics from the performances. Click on the pics below to see the full-size versions.
